These sensors operate by a change in the electrical field that is in the active zone and thus in the environment of the so-called sensor electrode. Capacitive sensors can detect different media through non-metallic vessel walls or on bypass pipes. This makes them handy in the use of level measurement. The detected medium increases the capacitance, which leads to a change in the output status of the sensor.
There are numerous applications for capacitive sensors, such as:
